What the hell. Why not start up a thread about a non-league Japanses team via-ing to get into the J-League.
This is the home town team of my friend. They play in the city of Akita, which is situated in "The Great White North", Akita Prefecture, Tōhoku region.
(for more on what "Prefecture" is go here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prefectures_of_Japan)
They play in the JFL, Japanese Football League, and, as of last year, changed their name from TDK Soccer Club to Blaublitz (Blue - Lightening) Akita.
Their club Mascot(s) is the Namahage. The Namahage is a legendary creature who, according to local stories, inhabits the mountains of Tohoku and visits villages every year to make sure that everyone is behaving themselves. If the villagers provide the namahage with treats of rice wine and cakes, and are careful to follow the orders of family elders and behave themselves throughout the year, then the namahage bring blessings on the entire village in the coming year. But anyone who is bad, or doesnt listen to their parent or grandparents, will be chased and frightened by the namahage.
They finished the 2010 season 8th out of 18 teams.
More to follow shortly
Blaublitz have decided to go for the J-League. But in it's previous state as TDK that was impossible, as TDK was a company team. Company teams are not allowed promotion to the J-League, along with University teams and Reserve teams of J1 and J2 clubs. Even when Blaublitz reformed they still had/have to become an Associate Member of the J-League, which take a long time to recieve. Still even then they have to finish in the top 4 and then go under a finacial inspection to make sure they can survive as a club in the J2 (*division above JFL).
There are still alot of things to do in reality to gain a place in the J-League, but Blaublitz have time on their side.
Blaublitz play in blue at home, and like most Japanese team's, play in white away.
This year the season kicks off on the 13th March with a tough openning match against Honda Lock (company team).
Seeing as the team finished 8th I recon they will finish this season, realistically, between 6-8th place.
