I was doing my usual rounds of the j-league related sites today and came across this on an Omiya Ardija blog: onagawasupporters.com/It is about a town in north-eastern Japan that was essentially totalled on March 11th. The town has a Non-League team which was destroyed as well and thus have had to pull out of their league. The club will fold without funding and is looking down the barrel. Now although a lot of the players and staff at the club do not live in Onagawa, and could have left the town, all have staid to help the police and military in the clear-up/rebuild. The club was formed back in 2006 to bring the community together and help keep young people in the town to watch football and engage the community, instead of heading off to the big cities. Now they are helping save the town from the Tsunami that has killed around 1300 people out of the 10,000 population. I will be donating to Onagawa Supporters to help fund the club, helping them to rebuild Onagawa. I hope some of you on here will do the same.
