Armagh City 1-1 Dundela 6th May 2011 Championship2
What another disappointing result in the latter stages of this campaign, results which put paid to Dundela’s hopes of promotion.Too many draws, the problem last season came back to haunt the Duns again.
In this game with Armagh, Dundela got off to the worst possible start on two minutes when a speculative long range shot found its way into the back of the net past Darren Fox’s despairing dive.
The lead lasted barely ten minutes when Adam Chalmers headed in from a corner much to the delight of the travelling support.
The remainder of the half saw Dundela press for a lead but were unable to score again, the closest effort comimg from a Lee Lenaghan drive which clipped the bar. HT 1-1
The second half was a story of missed opportunities for the Duns, they just didn’t seem to have their shooting boots on tonight.
The home side could not believe that they were holding the mighty Dundela and that showed with several time wasting tactics being used. There were also some meaty tackles going in with the referee being somewhat lenient.
Dundela thought they had snatched a win when Brian Russell nodded back from a Scot Hill center for Gary Irwin to fire home, only to be ruled offside.
So yet another draw for the Duns in a season which promised so much but due to injuries and other factors will be rather disappointing.
Dundela
Fox, Murphy, Bingham, Walker, Chalmers, Gourley(C), McCracken, Gilliland, Upton, Roy, Lenaghan. Subs, Russell(Gourley72), Campbell, Irwin(Gilliland58), Hill(Upton63),Sergeant.
Yet again if anyone wants to come over next season for a weekend in Belfast to watch the Wee Duns, i will be going a few times
