Dundela F.C. (the Duns) is a Northern Irish football team from Belfast. It currently plays in IFA Championship 2, and plays its home matches at Wilgar Park, nicknamed "The Hen Run". The club's colours are green, white and red. The home kit has green shirts, white or black shorts and green or white socks, whilst the away is all red and the third/change strip is white and green. The current team manager is Mark (Snapples) Snodden. the backroom staff include Sammy (Vern) McFadden, Brian Murphy, Marty Milligian, Ronnie Stirling and Alan Morrision History The Dundela Football Club was formed in 1895 from both employees of a local dairy owned by the Agnew family and members of a local Harriers Club. Their greatest-ever achievement came in April 1955, when as ranked outsiders, they defeated the mighty Glenavon by three goals to nil at Windsor Park, Belfast in the final of the Irish Cup. A surviving member of that historic cup winning team still plays for todays team, Tommy "Melvyn Ball" Parker who is now in his late eighties. Dundela's darkest hour occurred on August 25, 1995, when team captain, Michael Goddard died during a game at Stangmore Park, home of Dungannon Swifts, after being struck on the chest with the ball. Their latest success was a Steel & Sons Cup win in December 2007.
From DUNDELAfc.com: The 'Hen Runners' (a nickname given to the club after the ground, Wilgar Park, interpreting the club emblem of a hen playing football.) have been gracing Irish League football for many years now since formation in the 1890s. The club has a reputation of never conceding defeat until the final whistle blows at the end of a hard fought game. This attitude has reflected over the years in the many major trophies won, including the Irish cup, a trophy many senior teams have never got their hands on. The management team of Snapples, Vern and Ivor Moore have plenty of Irish League playing experience under their belt, also backed by former players Brian Murphy, Ronnie Stirling and Alan Morrison. They have brought in many new and experienced players, such as Michael Ferguson (once of Glentoran and Distillery), Matt Burrows & James Taylor (now at Glentoran) and a long list of many more. The only senior trophy win was Irish Cup back in 1955, when, as massive underdogs they defeated highly fancied and at the time 'top-dogs' Glenavon 3-0 on front of a huge crowd at the national stadium of Windsor Park.
