It seems as though "The Salad" or Roberto César as his parents called him, has left Tokyo and gone back to play in Brasil. Bit of an odd one, although I remember him coming back over last season, about half way through, to play again for Tokyo. Seems as though is was only a short term thing.

Some how I managed to miss the fact that the mighty red and blue power house that is Tokyo played a game yesterday. It was a pre-season against Kawasaki Frontale, which is usually a derby game. Well I say derby. Kawasaki, although close, is closer to Yokohama than Tokyo (I think). It is all down to the fact that Tokyo Verdy was once Kawasaki Verdy, but around 00's they moved to Tokyo. This meant Kawasaki did have a J-League. Fast forward a bit and Kawasaki Frontale was born. And that is essentially why FC Tokyo and Kawasaki Frontale is a derby game...... Anyway this pre-season finished 2-2. Kono scored and so did Tanizawa. Here is the first XI for the game: Shiota, Tokunaga, Kaga, Morishige, Mukuhara, Aria, Kajiyama, Kawano, Nao, Kazuma, Lucas

Well it has been just over a week since my last post. Not much happened during the week except match preparations for the J1 2012 opener, the Xerox Super Cup, match between FC Tokyo (Emperors Cup winners 2011) and Kashiwa Reysol (2011 J1 Champions). So yesterday the two teams battled it out for the Xerox trophy. To very evenly matched teams by all accounts. Where Tokyo dominated most of the play for large parts of the match. The team shaped up like so, 4-2-3-1: Shiota Mukuhara, Morishige, Tokunaga, Ota, Hideto, Kajiyama, Nao, Aria, Yazawa, Lucas. Although Tokyo played well, the J1 champs beat the Gasmen 2-1. Still not all bad. The game showed that Tokyo are more than a match for J1 teams, even the champs. I have a good feeling about 2012. Anyway the next game is Tuesday, when FCT travel to Brisbane to take on The Roar, in our first ever ACL match. Although we will be going without Lucas and Kajiyama. Then Saturday see's us properly start the 2012 J1 season away at Omiya Ardija (*fucking orange squirrel men).
*Yeah I still carry the hate

Fc Tokyo v Brisbane Roar is underway (well more than 15 mins into it now) in Brisbane, Australia. By all accounts so far Tokyo are playing some really good football. Someone even said it was Barcelona like (well both teams play in red and blue). So far though, no goals. Here is the line up: Gonda Tokunaga Morishige Kaga Ota Ishikawa Takahashi Hasegawa Yazawa Hanyu Watanabe As soon as I hear more I will update my post. Up The Gas
24 mins ago Tokyo went 1-0 up thanks to Yazawa Get in there. Seems as though Tokyo are all over Brisbane, with 6 shots to 1.
As I post Aria scored once again. 2-0 Tokyo. Great run from Hanyu and a stupendus ball from Takahashi. Hanyu shot was blocked but Hasegawa (Aria) was on hand to knock in the rebound ;D
FT FC Tokyo 2 - Brisbane Roar 0 Tanabe came on for Hanyu and Kawano came on for Nao. I have heard the phrases like "flawless football" banded around on twitter after this historic game. Will hopefully have more to follow. Up The Gas

So with the first game of 2012 season over, and 3pts in the bag how do I feel? I feel GREAT. Tokyo put in a solid performance against a good Omiya side. But our reward came in the 61st minute when Lucas, from I have heard (as I haven't seen highlights yet), scored a cracker to make it 1-0, win the game and give FCT 3pts. Here is the line up with subs: First XI S. Gonda K. Ota Y. Tokunaga M. Morishige K. Kaga H. Takahashi A. Hasegawa Y. Kajiyama T. Yazawa N. Hanyu Lucas SUBS N. Ishikawa for T. Yazawa 56' K. Watanabe for N. Hanyu 72' S. Tanabe for A. Hasegawa 90+2' H. Kawano H. Shiota K. Mukuhara S. Hirayama
Video highlights for your digestion. Look at the Red and Blue behind that goal ;D Look at that beautiful away kit As soon as I find some highlights I have them up for all to enjoy but until then, Up The Gas
