Well with the summer break upon us, and two games since my last post (I thought I was getting better at this), I thought I better take the time to update this fine thread ;D Starting with the game against Urawa Reds. The game was, from I have heard, a class performance by both teams who in the second half both turned up the heat to win the game. And with the biggest crowd of the season, just under 34,000, I imagine it was very loud too. In the 88th Minute Urawa thought they had that, as history was on their side with Tokyo not having beaten them since 2004. Kashiwagi dribbled into the box, lost it, then Genki Haraguchi flicked it onto Richardes who slotted home. But in the first minute of stoppage time Ishikawa swung over an outswinging corner, Masato Morishige outjumped Tomoaki Makino and planted a header past a static Nobuhiro Kato in the Urawa goal to get us back on level terms. So there is ended 1-1. Not bad. We moved up to 6th, Urawa 5th. Then came the 1-0 defeat to Guangzhou in the ACL, knocking us out of the competition. We had a couple of chances, and Gonda came up from the back in the last few seconds and headed the ball inches wide past the post. But it wasn't to be. Some blame the manager, Ranko Popovic, for leaving it too long to make a sub that would have any impact on the game. But at the end of the day Guangzhou won, we lost, move on. Its only the ACL. Like I said, 2 week break now for World Cup Qualifiers, but Tokyo return to Aji Sta on the 16th to take on Yokohama F Marinos.

Once again I neglect one of my awesome threads. I get bored too easily I supose. Anyway two games have been played since last I posted (oh...went all Yoda there MMMmmmmmMMMmm). A home game at Aji Sta against the Marinos and the second was against Cerezo Osaka (they play in Pink and dark blue. Another only J-League colour combo ). The first was a tight game against Yokohama F Marinos. Lost it 1-0. Bit disappointing but YFM are on the up this season (although they currently sit in 9th). The second game was a 2-0 victory with Hasegawa and Lucas getting the goals. For a proper write up that is a hell of a lot more entertaining then mine go to on-the-gas.blogspot.co.uk/. Your one-stop shop for all FC Tokyo stuff (although it is not a shop). Now currently at the moment Tokyo are playing Kashiwa Reysol, at Aji Sta, and are losing 1-0 at HT. Hopefully the Gas can turn this one around. Till next time Up The GAS!! *All pictures are from on-the-gas.blogspot.co.uk/, which in turn have come from the Official FC Tokyo website www.fctokyo.co.jp/index.html. If you use Google Chrome check it out. It should auto translate once the page has finished loading.

Over two months since my last post Although a lot has been happening over here with the Rams and Palace (to a much lesser, boring and depressing extent) so I haven't really been following results in the J-League. Well that is a bit of a lie. I have, and to be honest there hasn't been that much to write about. When I last posted Tokyo were 1-0 to Kashiwa Reysol (2011 J1 Champions) and that's how the game ended. This was followed up by a 3-1 defeat to Jubilo Iwata who, like us at the beginning of the season, have spent all season in the top 5-ish. H. Kawano did get his first goal of the season though in the 89th minute. Next up was a cracking game at the Aji Sta against Gamba Osaka, who have spent the entire season in and around the relegation zone. In the 3rd minute H. Nakamura scored a goal for the Gas. Then we went 2-0 up as the old man of the team, Lucas (33yr), scored in the 17th minute to make it 2-0. Osaka got a pen in the 31st minute though and Endo scored. 2-1. Now going by recent results,at this point I feared a Gamba come back and another 3-1 loss. Not so as in the 44th minute Lucas scored again making it 3-1 to the gas. HT came and thats how it stayed until the 62nd minute when Gamba got another one back. 3-2 and 28 minutes + AET to go. Fortunately Tokyo held their nerve and won the game. Unfortunately though this was followed up by a 1-0 loss to Sagan Tosu (although as I have said already this season, they have an awesome kit soo meh). Next came a 2-2 draw in Sendai against Vagalta. Watanabe in the 17th minute and Ishikawa in the 30th got the goals giving us a point away at, in my opinion, a very good Vagalta side. Then the shit came right back and 2-0 loss to another team enjoying a season in and around the relegation zone, in the form of Albirex Niigata. At the weekend it got better though. Tokyo traveled up the road a bit to Saitama to play my old favourites, Urawa Reds. The previous encounter at Aji Sta ended 1-1, so I was half expecting another draw...well hoping. First half finishes and Tokyo are 2-0 down to one wonder goal and a well worked goal. "Shit biscuits", I said. "Another loss. This really is just like supporting Palace ". But in true Tokyo fashion, the Gas didn't give up and were rewarded with 2 goals. The first in the 60th minute was scored by Muruhara. Then 12 minutes later Hasegawa (Midfield General Supreme) scored. and so the game ended 2-2. v Urawa highlights Now since I last posted Tokyo were sitting 5th in the table. Now they are 10th after a poor run of results. And with the next game being against Vagalta (sitting top - for virtually the entire season bar a week or 2 when they were second), this time at home, I can't really see us improving on this position any time soon. Oh well. No one said this season would be easy. But you never know. A late season push could see us back in the ACL mix at the end of the season. Up The Gas

New Flash...which is probably late!! Tokyo have signed Brazilian ex-Urawa player Edmilson on loan from Qatari club Al-Gharafa.

Its been a long time once again since I posted on this thread. Since my last post Tokyo have been hovering around mid-table, and that is where they are most likely to finish this year (even though the season doesn't finish until December).
Anyway Thought I post this video of the match against Jubilo Iwata. A nice 2-1 victory to get revenge for the 3-1 lose against them earlier in the season.

Well its been a full 5 months since I last posted on this forum. A lot has happened, which mainly involved Tokyo finishing 9th/10th To be honest I lost interest once it became apparent that to the Man U of Japan, Urawa, going to finish way above the the Red and Blue of Japan. It takes a lot of effort to keep up with everything that goes on over there to and English speaking blogs are out there but my main ones rarely got updated for weeks at a time. Plus google translate sucks balls. How can someones name translate into "RageAgainst Death-salad? Seriously? Here's FC Tokyo's soccer way page: uk.soccerway.com/teams/japan/fc-tokyo/1330/ Here you got the current team, with a few additions from the looks of it. Tokyo managed to keep Hasegawa, Ishikawa, Watanabe (not that he really got much of a chance last year) as well as defender Morishige. I am sure I heard somewhere that Hiroshima or someone were after him :/ Tokyo have lost a few though. Kajiyama (Casual) has left on loan to go play in Greece for one of the teams Waddon doesn't like. Kenta Mukuhara, a young defender, has gone on loan to Cerezo Osaka (why? ). Keigo Higashi has been brought in a a direct replacement for Kaijyama though in midfield. And from the looks of it is a very good replacement, maybe even better than the departed Casual? They've also brought in ex-Hiroshima star and Southampton, erm...not even bench warmer, Tadanari Lee (A striker Palace should have gone after for a loan deal, in my opinion). The guy scored goals for fun at Hiroshima and won the leagues golden boot 2 years in a row. Awesome. For more Preview analysis from someone more competent than me head over to on-the-gas.blogspot.co.uk/The season started last Saturday and Tokyo got off to a good start against recently promoted Oita Trinita, who's last stint in J1 ended in them being relegated something like a month before the season ended (2009 season). 2 goals from Hasegawa and Watanabe got Tokyo the 3 points but it was Oita's South Korean striker Jung-Han Choi who opened the scoring on 17 minutes. Watanabe hit back, with his first league goal of 2013, in the 26th minute and Hasegawa got his first of the season in the 57th. So after one game, Tokyo sit 3rd. Wonder how long that will last

Once again its been ages since I lasted posted. To be fair though this thread is hard to write and keep up to date if Tokyo haven't been winning. Not that they have been getting bum rushed of late, like Palace. In fact after a 4/5 game losing streak Tokyo be Nagoya Grampus 3-1 on Saturday with 2 goals from Lucas (admittedly from the the penalty spot) and one from Watanabe a good 25 yards out. The Coon-dogs (due to the raccoon mascot) are now sitting in 9th place, exactly half way, after the mentioned losing streak.
The recent results have played out live this: League = Red Cup = Blue
J1 - Home 3-0 W Kashiwa Reysol J1 - Away 1-0 L Cerezo Osaka J-League Cup - Home 0-0 D Sagan Tosu J-League Cup - Away 4-2 W Kashima Antlers J1 - Away 3-2 L Yokohama F Marinos J-League Cup - Home 0-0 Nagoya Grampus J1 - Home 1-0 L Omiya Ardija J-League Cup - Away 2-1 L Cerezo Osaka J1 - Away 2-1 L Vagalta Sendai
With 1 and 4 loses in the league and 1 win, 2 draws and a lose in the cup you can see Tokyo have yet to find their form this season. Thinking back to last year Tokyo were 4th-ish at this time and doing ok in the Champions League and well in the League. So whats changed? Not much really. Ishikawa has been injured and Kawano has brought on his form from preseason. But apart from that nothing major. I have noticed the aging Lucas is always in the team and it does seem maybe a lot is being pined on him to score Tokyo the goals they need. Watanabe is a tad hit and miss, but always has been. But in Tadanari Lee the Gas have a proven and deadly J-League goal scorer, yet he seems to spend most of his time coming on a sub. Hasegawa has also under performed it seems, drifting in and out of games.
To it seems as though the team is still in a bit of flux and Popovic is maybe still trying to find its best XI. And its not that Tokyo aren't scoring or making a menace of themselves in games. Look at the results the majority of which have been lost by an odd goal, 2-1, 3-2, 1-0. I don't think its time to panic. Tokyo are 9th, and to be honest aren't doing that badly compared to teams like Kawasaki, Niigata or Iwata (who are still waiting for their first win of the season). I am sure, no positive that Tokyo will be playing J1 come March 2014 but I think we'll finish 7th or 8th in the table. Tokyo are a good mid-table battling team, with enough about them to cause the league leaders problems and enough about them to maybe win a cup ;D
The next game is tomorrow (yay) in the J-League Cup against a struggling Oita Trinita side who are still searching for a win this year. Here's hoping for a Tokyo victory!!

Well if I remember correctly the Oita game in the J-Cup finished 0-0 yawn. But all was not lost readers.
On Saturday Tokyo beat Kawasaki Frontale 2-0 at the Aji Sta, with Lucas and Higashi scoring, and today beat Sagan Tosu 3-2 away with Higashi, 28th min, and Watanabe scoring two, 46th and 49th minutes.
Tokyo are now 5th. If I get time and can be asked I will attempt to write a short match report and hell, even post up highlights of the past 8 Tokyo league games.
Up the Gas!!

The gas played their last game now before the MONTH (wtf) mid season break. And wouldn't you know, they got beat 3-2 by Kashima Antlers. To be fair though, Kashima are pretty solid at home, but the second half performance and tactical fuck ups from Mr. Popovic (not the Palace legend I might add) cost us the game. 2-0 up. 2-0. Got six weeks to mellow on that self-destruction. Oh and to make it worse, those squirrel fuckers from Omiya, Saitama, are still top and on their best run ever.

I has been so long since I last posted on this forum let alone my FC Tokyo thread. There are only 5 fixtures left in the 2013 J1 season, the last game being 7th December. Not that much has changed at Aji Sta. Tokyo have spent the season sitting around the middle of the table all season apart from the charge in the summer that took them to 5th. As I have missed so many games I think the best thing I can do is post the results so far this season with the scorers: 3/2 v Oita A 2-1 (Watanabe, Hasegawa) 3/9 v Kashiwa H 3-0 (Watanabe 2, Hasegawa) 3/16 v Cerezo Osaka A 0-1 3/30 v Yokohama A 2-3 (Lee, Watanabe) 4/6 v Omiya H 0-1 4/13 v Sendai A 1-2 (Lee) 4/20 v Nagoya H 3-1 (Lucas 2, Watanabe) 4/27 v Kawasaki H 2-0 (Lucas, Higashi) 5/3 v Tosu A 3-2 (Higashi, Watanabe 2) 5/6 v Iwata H 2-2 (Ishikawa, Lee) 5/11 v Shonan A 2-3 (Ota, Watanabe) 5/18 v Shimizu H 2-0 (Takahashi, Lucas) 5/25 v Kashima A 2-3 (Lee, Watanabe) 7/6 v Hiroshima H 0-1 7/10 v Urawa A 2-2 (Mita, Hasegawa) 7/13 v Niigata A 3-0 (Takahashi, Watanabe, Lucas) 7/17 v Kofu H 4-1 (Lucas, Watanabe 2, Vucicevic) 7/31 v Shimizu A 0-0 8/3 v Oita H 2-0 (Watanabe 2) 8/10 v Kawasaki A 2-2 (Watanabe, Ota) 8/17 v Yokohama H 0-2 8/24 v Iwata A 0-0 8/28 v Tosu H 2-3 (Hirayama, Watanabe) 8/31 v Hiroshima A 2-1 (Watanabe, Yonemoto) 9/14 v Urawa H 3-2 (Jang, Morishige, Hirayama) 9/21 v Nagoya A 2-0 (Hasegawa, Vucicevic) 9/28 v Omiya A 5-2 (Lucas 3, Mita, Hirayama) 10/5 v Kashima H 1-4 (Hirayama) 10/19 v Niigata H 2-0 (Ota, Lucas) 10/27 Sun 1pm v Kofu A 11/10 Sun 1pm v Cerezo Osaka H 11/23 Sat 5pm v Shonan H 11/30 Sat 5pm v Kashiwa A 12/7 Sat 3.30pm v Sendai H Also here are the highlights of the last game against Niigata. Still wish I could afford to buy this season home shirt but I imagine next years one will be just as good, maybe even better. There is no real hope of winning the league now as the leaders Yokohama are 9pts ahead but there is a real chance of getting back into the ACL places. £rd place is only 6pts away and Tokyo have five very winnable games ahead. Up the Gas

Indeed it is. Tokyo drew 1-1 with Ventforet Kofu. The wine and blue scored first in the 28th minute and thats the way the score stayed until the 80th minute when Tokunaga scored the equaliser. Tokyo now sit 6th in the table. I haven't seen the highlights yet but when I do I'll post them up. Tokyo's next game is on the 10th against Cerezo Osaka at home.

Tokyo lost 2-1 to Cerezo and dropped to 7th in the table oh well. I think it might be too much to reach the ACL places now. Unless Tokyo win the Emperors Cup again And talking of the Emperors Cup, Japans sort of FA Cup, Tokyo beat those squirrel f***ers Omiya 3-0. One of Tokyo's young midfielders, Hirotaka Mita, scored the opening goal in the 46th minute, just before half time. In the 54th minute Watanabe does what he's good at and scored his 18th/19th(?) goal of the season before fall back Ota scored the final goal in the 82nd minute. Next game is Saturday against 16th placed Shonan Bellmare.
