Over the ‘moon Posted on August 7, 2011 by Alan Dundela 3-0 Killymoon Rangers 06/08/11 Championship2
Dundela made a winning start to the league campaign with a comfortable win over the visitors from Cookstown. After a tentative opening the home side took the lead through Jamie Turner on 16 minutes after some great work by Gary Irwin and Dee Wright.Indeed they had numerous chances to increase the lead but all to no avail, the closest effort when Gary Irwin struck the post. Johnny Gilliland was also determined to open his account with two blistering strikes, one grazing the crossbar and the other superbly saved by Stewart in the away goal. HT 1-0
The second period was following much the same pattern as the first with Dundela pressing for a second goal with Johnny Sergeant having an easy time in the home goal.
It wasn’t until live wire striker Glen Upton was brought of the bench did they increase the lead with two quick fire strikes. The remainder of the game faded out without further scoring for a comfortable win.
The Duns did however suffer a blow near the end when young Lee Lenaghan suffered a nasty injury in an tackle.
FT 3-0

Sport & Leisure defeated Posted on August 17, 2011 by Alan Sport & Leisure Swifts 1-3 Dundela 16/08/11 Championship2
Dundela overcame a determined Swifts side in a keenly fought contest with 3 quickfire second half goals. The first half was a bit of a non event as both sides seemed to struggle to find any fluency in their play and both goalkeepers were seldom troubled.HT 0-0.
The Duns were quick off the mark in the second half and raced into a three goal lead during a blistering ten minute period. Dee Wright fired the Duns in front and quickly followed up with a second. Then livewire winger Kris Hunter scored a superb individual goal, cutting in from the left wing and finding the bottom corner with a well placed strike. The Duns were now in complete control and could have added to the scoring but despite some impressive build up play were unable to breakthrough again. When the next goal did arrive it was the home side that suprisingly got it when the Dundela defence was caught napping. Up until then Darren Fox had little to do in the away goal. That was about to change as the game entered the final ten minutes, Swifts going all out to try and get something from the game, and it was Fox who saved the Duns on two occassions with point blank saves. these proved vital as the Duns saw out the game with the 3 points in the bag.
Dundela Fox, Murphy(C), Aston, Walker,Cardwell, Gilliland, Irwin, McCain, Wright, Sheridan, Hunter. Subs Upton,Robinson(Aston),Chalmers, Gourley(Walker), Faulkner(McCain).

Duns leave Maze in a daze Posted on August 29, 2011 by Alan Dundela 5-1 Lower Maze 27/08/11 Steel & Sons Cup Rd 2.
Dundela overcame the challenge of Maze with a comfortable victory but in all honesty the scoreline could have been double figures if not for Neil in the away goal and some wasteful finishing by the Duns front men. Dundela took the lead after 9 minutes when Kris Hunter fired in after some clever wing play, but despite having all the early play they were rocked when Maze drew level through Stephenson on 17 minutes. Two quick goals followed on 24 and 26 minutes through Hunter for his second and Gary Irwin to see the Duns through to half time with a comfortable lead.
HT 3-1
The Duns came out for the second half determined to nail home their advantage and chances were coming thick and fast but Neil in the away goal was having an inspired day and thwarted the home side on numeruos occassions,he was also aided by some poor finishing by the Duns strikers. Dundela did increase their lead on 57 minutes through Faulkner who has impressed with his goal scoring from midfield. Lower Maze were now well and truly deflated and it was striker Chris Sheridan who completed the scoring after some slick exchanges with Glen Upton. Dundela’s opponents in the next round will be Shankill United.
FT 5-1
Dundela Sergeant, Murphy, Aston, Robinson, Faulkner, Gourley(C), Irwin, McCain, Upton, Sheridan, Hunter. Subs, Gilliland(Faulkner65), Collins(Murphy65), Chalmers(Robinson79),Fox.

Cup Exit Posted on August 31, 2011 by Alan Dundela 3-4 Larne aet 30/08/11 Irn Bru League Cup Rd 1
Duindela exited the League Cup tonight at the hands of Championship 1 side Larne after a 4-3 defeat in extra time in what was a classic cup tie. The Inver men had taken the lead on 12 mintues with a well worked goal through Young but the lead lasted barely 4 minutes when Chris Sheridan superbly finished off a fine attacking move. The Duns were now in the acendancy and had several chances to take a lead into the interval but could not break through. HT 1-1 The second half started with Dundela again pressing but the away side always looking dangerous on the break. Larne then received a blow when Adam Dick had to be stretchered off with an ankle injury and the Duns took the lead with a neat finish from William Faulkner. The home side had further chances to add to that lead but failed to take any and were made to pay when Maguire fired in an unstopable volley in added on time. 90mins 2-2
In the first period of extra time Larne took the lead through McAllister and extended the lead 5 mintues into the second period. Dundela were now throwing everything at Larne and Murphy pulled one back with a now trademark long range effort. As darkness fell the referee brought the match to an end with Dundela left wondering how they let the win slip from their grasp. FT 3-4
Dundela Sergeant, Collins, Murphy,Robinson, Faulkner, Gourley(C), Irwin, McCain, Upton, Sheridan, Hunter. Subs, Gilliland, Aston, Cardwell, Fox.

Wilgar woe. Posted on September 5, 2011 by Alan Dundela 3-4 Coagh United 03/09/2011 Championship 2. In a remarkable start to this game Dundela found themselves trailing by 2 goals after only 3 minutes. Straight from the kick off a Coagh attack was ended by a rash Robinson tackle resulting in the first of 2 penalties cooly put away by Lamont. Worse was to follow within a minute when Gourley committed a similar offence with a penalty once again the outcome. This time Johnny Sergeant pulled off a fantastic save only for Park to net the rebound. Needless to say the Duns appeared rattled and it took them a while to find their feet but when they did Chris Sheridan pulled a goal back on 10 minutes and a little over 10 mintues later the scores were level through the hard working Gary Irwin’s cool finish. With half time approaching both sides were intent on taking a lead in to the break and it seemed as if Coagh were to do so when Donaldson netted after a Robinson slip, however as the referee was about to bring the half to an end Ben Roy broke through and finished with some style. HT 3-3 After the action paked first half it was no surprise that the second period was not as eventful, even with both teams having chances to add to their totals.Indeed the next goal did not arrive until 5 mintues from time and it was heartbreaking for the Duns as Lamont notched his second of the game to seal victory for United. FT 3-4 Dundela Sergeant, Collins, Murphy, Robinson, Faulkner, Gourley, Irwin, McCain, Roy,Sheridan, Aston. Subs Gilliland(Collins86), Cardwell(Robinson44), Wright(Roy68), Hill, Fox.

Students caned. Posted on October 19, 2011 by Alan Dundela 4-1 Queens University 08/10/2011 Championship2
The Duns welcomed Queens for what on paper seemed a difficult encounter with the away side having a promising start to the season. However the Wilgar men enjoyed a relatively comfortable afternoon with three goals in the first half hour and a fabulous Dee Wright strike securing all three points. Dundela’s first came from a deft front post header from Wright on 7 minutes and on 19 minutes William Faulkner finished a fantastic passing move to slot home. Ben Roy added a third on 27 with a cheeky lob over the advancing keeper before Harper replied for Queens before half time to give them some hope. HT 3-1 Queens started strongly in the second half but the Duns defence stood firm and indeed the home side could have added to their tally when Stephen Gourleys drive rattled the woodwork. The game was all over as a contest when Dee Wright scored his second with arguably the best goal see at Wilgar this season. The striker picked up the ball after a long punt up field and flicked the ball over the defenders head and unleashed an unstoppable volley from the corner of the 18 yard box. FT 4-1 After the match it was announced that William Faulkner was voted player of the month for September.
Dundela Sergeant, Collins, Robinson, Faulkner, Cardwell, Gourley(C), Irwin, Gilliland, Wright, Roy, Hunter. Subs. Hill(Irwin80), Lenaghan, McCain, Sheridan(Roy72), Upton(Wright86).
Referee C.Rainey (Randalstown).
