Armagh joy thanks to Roy. Posted on April 11, 2012 by Alan Armagh City 2-3 Dundela 07/04/2012 Championship2. Dundela got back on track in the hunt for promotion with a hard fought victory over City. The Duns were hit with a blow before kick off when Sergeant was ruled out and Bailie took his place in goal. The big keeper however got of to a terrible start when a Walker back pass bobbled as he attempted to clear and the ball ended in the back of the net. Dundela pulled level when new father David Murphy netted with a penalty but were soon behind again when sloppy defending allowed the home side to score following a corner. The sides went into the break level when Dee Wright got the Duns second. HT 2-2 The second half was all Dundela but they were becoming frustrated until Ben Roy fired in a cracker from long distance to secure victory. Dundela now face two tough games next week as they face promotion rivals Coagh Untied and Knockbreda in what is becoming an enthralling title race. Dundela. Bailie, Walker, Murphy, Faulkner, Hume, Cardwell, Irwin, Roy, Wright, McCain, Hunter. Referee. C Rainey. Duns go Second in the League

Coagh stalemate Posted on April 16, 2012 by Alan Coagh United 3-3 Dundela 14/04/2012 Championship2.
Dundela’s promotion hopes suffered a blow with this draw against fellow hopefuls Coagh. Things could have been worse as Glen Upton only secured the point in stoppage time.
The Duns started the game the hungrier of the two and went ahead through Dee Wright only for Ferguson to level soon after from a penalty. Wright fired Dundela back in front before the interval in a half dominated by the away side. HT 1-2 With only 15 minutes of the second half gone Dundela somehow found themselves behind when first Campbell struck from long range then Black seized on some sloppy defending to strike. Dundela were now up against it but despite having the better of the play could now breakthrough with last weeks hero Ben Roy somehow missing the target from close in. With the game deep in stoppage time substitute Glen Upton fired in a vital goal which could yet prove important in the final weeks of the season. FT 3-3
Dundela Sergeant, Walker, Murphy(C), Faulkner, Cardwell, Hume, Hunter, McCain, Wright, Roy, Hill. Subs. Upton(Walker 68), Ballard, Beattie, Aston(Cardwell 68), Bailie.

Deelight for Duns! Posted on April 18, 2012 by Alan Dundela 2-1 Knockbreda 14/04/2012 Championship2. Dee Wright was the hero for Dundela in this must win game against league leaders Knockbreda. With the referee looking at his watch deep into added on time Wright struck at the back post with his and Dundela’s second goal to send the home fans and players alike wild with joy. Manager Mark Snodden sent his men out knowing that only victory would do if they were to keep promotion hopes alive. The home side started well and went in front when Wright found himself unmarked in the box to slot home on 6 minutes. The match was being played at a frenetic pace and it was clear that both sides wanted the points with ‘breda determined to level as soon as possible, and level they did on 24 minutes when Montgomery headed in after a well delivered cross. HT 1-1 The second half had Dundela pressing but without any clear cut chances while at the other end Knockbreda were looking for a second on the break. As the game entered the final 10 minutes manager Snodden brought on striker Upton to add impetus to the home attack and was prepared to take chances at the back to chase victory. At one stage as time ticked away goalkeeper Sergeant was the only player defending with all others in or around the away penalty area in an attempt to get that all important goal. With 4 minutes of added time played the ball was delivered into the box and as a defender tried to clear he seemed to slice the ball straight in Wrights path and bang it was in the back of the net. Players, staff and supporters danced with joy as they knew it was vital to secure the three points. With 2 games to go Dundela must win both and hope that one or more of their promotion rivals slip up,as Sir Alex Ferguson might say its “squeaky bum time”. Dundela Sergeant, Murphy, Aston, Faulkner, Hume, Gourley(C), Irwin, McCain, Wright, Roy, Hill. Subs. Upton(Murphy 82), Gilliland, Beattie(Hill 87), Walker(Roy 90), Cardwell. Referee D. Basketfield (Banbridge).

A vital three points secured. Posted on April 23, 2012 by Alan Dundela 3-0 Wakehurst 21/04/2012 Championship2.
The importance of the dramatic victory over Knockbreda was emphasized after this comfortable win, when news filtered through that our rivals for promotion had dropped vital points. Now with only one game to go it means that a victory over Portstewart would bring a remarkable end to the season with promotion.
The first half of this game was a slightly nervy affair for the Duns as they took a while to get started.Playing against a strong wind chances were limited with Ben Roy coming closest. HT 0-0 The second half was a much better display from the home side, they took the lead within a minute of the restart when the hardworking Roy got on to the end of a McCain pass to slot home. Dundela were now pressing but the Wakehurst defence were proving to be a tough nut to crack. The second and crucial goal came on 71 minutes when the lethal Dee Wright nodded in. That goal certainly settled the Duns and they were now in total control but still prepared to put in the hard work to secure the vital three points. The game was wrapped up when Glen Upton fired a low shot in to the corner of the net with 7 minutes left. FT 3-0
Dundela Sergeant, Murphy, Aston, Faulkner, Hume, Gourley, Irwin, McCain, Wright, Roy, Hill. Subs. Upton(Hill 40), Gilliland(Faulkner 85), Cardwell, Walker, Beattie(Wright 83).
Referee C. Floyd.
